Vacation Time
Last week Samantha had her first official vacation, as the three of us traveled to southern California for the week. We spent the first half relaxing in the sun in the beautiful desert town of Borrego Springs, and then rounded out the trip with a couple days in San Diego, where Paul attended a conference. Overall, Samantha proved to be a great traveler -- her first flight went smoothly (or as smoothly as one could expect with a 3-month old...), and she slept well regardless of the location. As for us, we have officially gone from a couple that tries not to check any bags, to now checking four bags -- oh, how things change!

Three Months!
Samantha is now three months old! She's sure grown a lot over the past month. She has now found her hands and loves to suck on them, (though she hasn't quite mastered finding just the thumb yet - it's usually the whole fist or some combination of fingers). She's also just starting to rock her legs and roll herself to her side. Her hair is starting to get a little longer, and she is constantly surprising us (and herself, it seems) with new sounds. Here are a few pictures of Sam at 3 months.

Hanging out with the cousins
Samantha took her second big road trip to Portland last week, when Karen and Sam drove down to visit Karen's family. Sam got to spend lots of quality time with her cousins Becca (7.5 months) and Jake (2.5 years). Jake does a great job keeping the girls entertained, with rousing renditions of Baa Baa Black Sheep and lots of silly dance moves!

First Christmas
We celebrated Christmas in Seattle this year with the Breckenridge family. Samantha may have been a little oblivious to the gifts on her first Christmas, but she seemed to especially enjoy the twinkling lights!
